At the beginning of every school year, most university students are looking for a way to get involved on campus. There are 57 student-run organizations at Wittenberg University that are looking to increase their numbers. The yearly Involvement Fair is the best way for students to see what is out there and get to know their peers.
This year’s Involvement Fair was filled with groups for gaming, club sports, religion, theater, mock trial, anime, mental health, honors, student senate, and many more. These are clubs that hold events and meetings regularly. They are resume-building, skill-learning, and friend-making opportunities.
With Wittenberg being a smaller university, composed of less than 2,000 students, many students join multiple clubs. This cross-campus involvement creates a very connected student body. One of the ways these clubs are trying to connect the students is by creating multi-club events. Lionel Worman, a Wittenberg Alum and current IT staff member at Witt, has been organizing multi-club events with the Role-Playing Guild (RPG) and many other clubs across campus.
He creates specific events that introduce points of connection between the groups. Worman was passionate about the event he held with the RPG and the American Sign Language Club, where members played a game that helps you learn ASL. This event is one of the ways he hopes that more people discover other potential interests on campus and can help build up the membership in clubs across campus.
With the start of a new chapter in your life, whether you’re going into your freshman year or senior year, there is something new for you to discover on campus and ways to get involved that you can may not have thought you were interested in.
Following the words of Richard Phillips, who spoke at the 2026 opening convocation, find what interests you and let yourself have new and unusual experiences. One of the ways to do that is by joining a club, even if you have only a small interest in it. This is where you may meet the friends that are going to be in your future. Have fun and enjoy this year, you’re in the “good old days.”
