With Homecoming this Saturday, the alumni, staff and student body are ramping up the festivities. It started Thursday at the Bayley Auditorium with “Immigration at the Crossroads: Business, Policy, Ethics, and Human Stories.” This event featured storytelling, a documentary film, and conversations surrounding immigration within the Springfield community.

Thursday also included the induction of new members to the Hall of Honor: Alex Andrews ’15, Jay Freund ’95, Tim Gaal ’04, Rachel Juergens ’02, Steve Rader ’04, Kara Seidenstricker ’16, Chad Thompson ’04, and Mark Williams ’83. There were also three teams being celebrated as Teams of Distinction: the men’s basketball teams from 1980, 1983, and 1987. Last, but certainly not least, they added two new names to the Lifetime Achievement Awards: Bruce Cunningham ’85 and Wendell Lutz ’66.

Though you may have missed these events, there are still many more to come during this busy weekend. With events ranging from department panels to bonfires to brunch, there is something for everyone.

Friday highlights the alumni with the Alumni Achievement Awards and the Psychology Department Alumni Panel. You can also get a tour or learn more information about the reunions and weekend events throughout the day at the Benham-Pence Student Center. The night will conclude with a bonfire on the corner of Woodlawn and Ward streets, as well as the reopening of the Weaver Observatory with a Tour of the Night Sky event.

Saturday boasts the homecoming football game against Kenyon College at Edwards-Maurer Field following the Tiger Tailgate, where there are numerous food trucks, live music, and tables selling Wittenberg merch. This is a fan-favorite event through the years, with alumni returning for the tailgate and game specifically. Earlier in the day, there is a Cadaver Lab Tour in the Kuss Science Center, Room 109. Or you can get your exercise in with pickleball at the David B. and Georgiana S. Albright Tennis Complex. Saturday night gets wrapped up with Bingo in the Center Dining Room.

Sunday rounds the weekend out, with Vow Renewal at the Kissing Bridge, a homecoming fellowship and worship service at Weaver Chapel, and a pancake brunch in the Center Dining Room. Alumni, family and friends are invited to all the events; however, some require preregistration. If you want to access the full schedule and information click here.
